I would like to congratulate you and your staff for taking the first steps in making California a better place. Its true what they say, “that it is not your fathers’ California anymore”. In a time where we must share all of our resources together, since we cohabitate the same planet. We are divided by political, religious, ethnic and socio-economical differences. I am not ashame to say I not a Democrat, my ideology is to vote for the most qualified individuals. Diversity is an important element in regards to political representation, as long as it is accompanied by competence. I wish you the best, Ms. Bowen.

I am happy to read your comment on campaign finance reform. How do you stand on AB 583, the California Clean Money and Fair Elections Act.
The cost is relatively small and there have been several suggestions as to how it could be financed.

I would just like to say good luck to you and your staff on the campaign. It makes me so proud to be a female when I see women like yourself exceed and excel beyond expectations of our society. I am a Pacific Islander, a small population at the time but growing rapidly in California. Therefore I believe that diversity is a very important issue. Knowing the people you work for makes a difference on what you do and be able to accomplish great things. Thank you for your support on the CSBG Budget fight that’s currently going on in Congress. CSBG fights to help anyone that is considered low-income. Sorry to say but more than half of Californians are considered low-income. Please keep fighting to help the helpless.

You may want to ask Beth Krom and Larry Agran and Sukee Kang, 3 Irvine city council members and Beth is also our Mayor for endorsements to get some endorsements from Orange County. Beth is a pediatrician. Larry is a Lawyer.
Other persons that you may want to seek endorsements from in this area are Steve Young who is running for the House Seat in the 48th District, election on 12/6/05 and Frank Barberra, the Orange Coungy Democratic Chairpersons. Frank is a lawyer in Santa Ana. Steve is also a lawyer.
I believe all of these persons either have worked on having fair elections or are very sensitive to accurate vote counting.

Is it OK for people out of state to sign your petition to demand the “hack” test be done before SoS McPherson re-certifies Diebold machines. Many people I know who are just as concerned about the electronic voting machines in their states would like to sign the petition, because they know that how California goes…it would affect their states as well, big-time. Please get back to me on this.

Ray, Senator Bowen is a co-author and supporter of AB 583, the California Clean Money and Fair Elections Act. It will be heard in the Assembly in January.

Debra, it’s been a long time since those “Oakwood United” and community task force meetings in Venice about gangs, gentrification, jobs, etc. back in the early 90’s. It was exciting to be a small part of the campaign to get you into office and it’s been great to watch you continue that crusading spirit to this day. I think you are absolutely the right person for Secretary of State. I’ve had the exact same concerns and frustrations about the voting machine situation. It’s about time for someone with (un?)Common Sense to step forward and show people what LEADERSHIP is all about. GO FOR IT and GOOD LUCK!!!
