Torrance – Today, the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters endorsed Debra Bowen for Congress citing her leadership in supporting workers by helping to create jobs and push for vocational training to prepare workers for good-paying jobs.

“We support Debra Bowen for Congress because she has a solid record of fighting for policies that help workers and strengthens the middle class,” said Mike McCarron, Executive Secretary of the Regional Council. “We support her candidacy because she has the courage to stand up for what is right and we urge others to join us in supporting for Debra Bowen for Congress.”

The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters represents over 65,000 union carpenters in five states. We are dedicated to raising area standards for all carpenters in Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado.

“Carpenters are extremely hard workers that build our homes, schools, hospitals and communities, and as a member of Congress, I will fight to create more jobs with solid middle class wages and benefits so workers can support their families and retire with dignity,” said Bowen.

As a state legislator for 14 years and now in her second term as California’s 30th Secretary of State, Debra Bowen has implemented innovative policies to protect the environment, make government more transparent and safeguard consumers from predators while helping create jobs across the state including good paying construction jobs.

Bowen continues to receive the support of local, state and national organizations including Torrance Police Officers Association, Democracy for America, Blue America, Beach Cities Democratic Club, California League of Conservation Voters, Equality California PAC and California Nurses Association/National Nurses United.
